Metro West Community Development Organization & Cleveland SCORE form partnership
Recognizing the need to support neighborhood based small businesses in the Metro West area,
Metro West Community Development Organization has partnered with Cleveland SCORE to help with free mentoring, workshops, and educational services to small businesses in the neighborhood.
The partnership will foster local neighborhood business development and equitable economic growth by providing free, experienced mentoring and educational services that small businesses need to thrive. “The Economic Development department at Metro West works to support our local businesses and development initiatives”, says Nick De Leon, Economic Development Director. “We support our community through providing technical assistance to businesses, storefront renovations, referrals for small loans and matching grant programs, assistance in neighborhood infrastructure projects, and commercial code enforcement and safety”.
SCORE will provide free certified mentoring services, free business education webinars and workshops as needed for the small businesses in Metro West Neighborhood. Users may be startups, existing small businesses, or nonprofits. According to Bob Cohen, Chairman of the Cleveland SCORE chapter, “Our overall mission is to foster local businesses and emerging entrepreneurs. What better way to do that than working with local neighborhood businesses providing free, experienced support that small businesses need to thrive. It is our aim to deploy this program neighborhood by neighborhood, building capability and capacity in the community.”
As a part of this collaboration, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress staff will provide support to the Metro West Development Organization and Cleveland SCORE implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the program while leveraging its standing within the small business ecosystem, fostering local business development for the community.
“Partnerships that leverage one another’s strength are critical to the revitalization of Cleveland’s neighborhoods,” says Tania Menesse, President and CEO of Cleveland Neighborhood Progress. “When CDCs and small business development organizations come together to support business owners and entrepreneurs, our neighborhoods win”.
Small businesses located within the Metro West service area in need of assistance should contact Monserrat Monterrubio, Small Business Coordinator at 216-961-9073 or email at mmonterrubio@metrowestcle.org
