A high-performing Board is the foundation of successful nonprofit organizations. Without this, an organization cannot develop effective strategies, be financially sustainable, or achieve its mission. This workshop details the characteristics of high performing boards. Appropriate board structure, membership and processes are discussed. It also addresses the importance of each director's independence, competence and behavior. It deals with the board's focus on critical issues, its engagement in strategic planning and how it interacts with the Executive Director.

Dean is a consultant on Board Goverance who has spent his career as a nonprofit leader.
His roles were primarily at large institutional, nonprofits in 5 different states. A primary role was a 15-year tenure as Pres/CEO for a national membership association of faith-based health care & human service organizations.
