I have been a SCORE mentor for more than 5 years. Previously, I worked for more than 40 years in the field of business-to-business publishing, publishing trade magazines for the restaurant and foodservice industry. Two were startups; one I took over in a turnaround situation.

These magazines ranged from broad-based for the foodservice industry as a whole (fast food to fine dining) to niche publications for chain restaurant executives and chefs and chef-driven restaurants. I was primarily responsible for marketing of the brand, advertising sales, market research, audience development, custom content and collaboration with the editorial team. I was also responsible for bottom-line P&L management.

I find that the fundamentals of marketing, branding, communications, sales and finance are applicable to most entrepreneurs and small business owners, and I enjoy helping them think through their ideas, overcome obstacles and find their own path towards success.
