The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today that it will open a Business Recovery Center (BRC) in Washington County on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m., at the Barre Municipal Auditorium in Barre. SBA is opening the Center to assist Vermont businesses with losses due to severe storm, flooding, landslides and mudslides that occurred July 9-11.
The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 and effective from January 1, 2024, introduces essential changes for U.S. small business owners.
The CTA mandates small business entities to report "beneficial owner" details to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Beneficial owners are individuals who own at least 25% of or exercise substantial control over the reporting business entity.
