Veterans Entrepreneurship Resources Expo

SCORE CNY OUTREACH

On Tuesday, November 12, 2024 volunteer mentor Jim Calabrese represented SCORE CNY as a panelist at the Veteran Entrepreneurship Resources Expo offered by the U.S. SBA Syracuse District Office and hosted by the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans & Military Families (IVMF) National Veteran Resource Center at Syracuse University. The event celebrated National Veterans Small Business Week with informational sessions by a Resource Partner Panel, Access to Capital Panel, and Veteran Entrepreneur Panel. According to Misty Fox, IVMF Director of Entrepreneurship & Small Business, mentorship is among the top three identified needs among veterans looking to start a business, or grow their existing business.

The mentoring and training resources available from SCORE are well aligned to serve the needs of veterans and entrepreneurs of all backgrounds.

In 2024, SCORE is celebrating its 60th anniversary supporting and helping Small Businesses grow and thrive.

SCORE CNY OUTREACH

This past Friday & Saturday, May 3 & 4, the SCORE CNY Team of Dennis Slattery, Faye Williams and James Calabrese attended the Freedom Gathering at The Living Water Church of God in Christ in Syracuse. Faye is one of our mentors and was gracious enough to provide SCORE CNY the opportunity to present and talk to attendees about our services and resources. Dennis did a fine job presenting an overview of SCORE CNY and our capabilities. Faye did a fine job highlighting one of her client success stories - Jamal Finch who recently became the owner of a barber shop where he used to be an employee. Many of the attendees know the Finch family and the story clearly resonated with them.
