How SCORE Helped

The Learning Dog Training & Enrichment Center offers a large variety of classes using non-aversive training methods. From puppy to teenager to adult to senior, there are classes to suit your needs. Both Katie and Jenny are Certified Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA) and believe in non-aversive training methods so choke collars, prong (pinch) collars or shock (e-collars) collars are never used. We believe you never have to hurt a dog to train them.

The Learning Dog Training & Enrichment Center also offers one day training classes, seminars, playdates, cat behavior, bite prevention seminars at vet offices,  and fun pet events. And stop in to check out our retail area offering hard-to-find training tools and unique pet products.  Online retail area coming soon!

Katie and Jenny first met with SCORE in June 2012. They were looking for guidance in increasing sales for this new entity over several visits we discussed concepts especially calls to former clients telling them about new classes.

We also spent time reviewing certain expenses that seemed to be high compared to the sales volume the company was doing. The overall goal was for each partner to get $25000 per year. We suggested instead of paying trainers 30%, that they take that amount when they do the training. Also promoting their business through workshops etc. sales are up 78% in 2013 over 2011. 14% in 2013 over 2012. Printing, office supplies and payroll are now better managed.

2014 sales are up 16% for the first 4 months.

These 2 young ladies have done an excellent job in managing the business and take to heart advice and suggestions given to them!
