Small Website Advisor

Modern Content Management Systems like Wordpress or Wix make it easier than ever for non-profits and small businesses to minimize costs by building or maintaining their own websites. But sometimes you might need help with things like:

  • Getting started - choosing the best host for you or selecting/customizing a website template
  • Technical details - HTML, Javascript, or PHP
  • Image editing
  • Custom newsletters using MailChimp or Constant Contact
  • PayPal integration

I'm a retired software engineer and can answer many "How Do I ...?" questions about small websites. But I won't be much help if you use a large CMS like Drupal or Joomla.

I can help you with your intellectual property issues including patents, trademarks, copyright and trade secrets.  I can also help you with

I spent 20 years managing the Intellectual Property Office of SRI International.  During this time, I was instrumental in developing patent portfolios in diverse technologies that were the bases for several successful start-ups.  I was a member of a team that prepared and negotiated agreements for protecting those rights and for commercialization of the technology —e.g., NDAs, license agreements, etc.  Since joining SCORE, I have helped clients in a variety of different businesses with more general business matters—e.g., preparation of business plans, market research, employee relations, etc.

If you have concerns about any aspect of intellectual property important to your business-- process, strategy, cost, licensing, etc. , contact me.
