Following graduation from the University of Montana, I spent several years working in non-profit organizations. In 1974 I began a career in Human Resources, working first in a service company, then moving into HR Management positions in manufacturing in Southern California. I successfully worked as a HR Consultant for a few years during that time. In 1995 my husband's company moved to Arkansas, where I worked as HR Manager for an ice cream manufacturer of about 350 employees. I acquired my SPHR with SHRM, and was named Arkansas Professional of the Year in 2003.
In 2005 I became HR Manager with Amazon.com in the Fernley, NV. location where a workforce of 900 swells to 3000+ seasonally. Our Human Resources Department has been recognized nationally for developing unique recruiting strategies for our seasonal workforce. I have served on Amazon.com’s Corporate Teams developing and implementing new manager training, workers’ compensation strategies, and safety policies and programs. I retired from Amazon.com in 2011.
I joined SCORE that same year, and became Chapter Secretary in 2012 and Chapter Chair in 2014. In addition to SCORE, I volunteer for two other organizations.
