Jeannette Watling-Mills joined SCORE in 2007. She has lived full time in Sarasota for over 30 years. She has a BFA in Interior Design from UNC-G and worked as a designer in NYC and Miami and Sanibel Island before moving to Sarasota. She is currently owner of Bob’s Window Cleaning of Florida, Inc., the largest window cleaning company between St. Petersburg and Ft. Myers.   She has also owned a mortgage brokerage, a drapery franchise and an interior design business.  She has worked as a concert promoter and in advertising sales. 

On the non-profit side, Jeannette has served as chairman of Manasota SCORE, providing mentoring and advice to small businesses.  She also has served as President of the Woman’s Exchange, a consignment shop doing well over $1 million in annual sales and has been active with many other non-profits in Sarasota, including the Selby Library (past President) , Sarasota Women’s Alliance, and Gulf to Bay Decorative Artists.   She is a mentor in Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She also owns and manages several rental properties. 

Jeannette’s leisure interests range from theatre to kayaking and painting to golf.  She has been interested in cohousing for a number of years and feels that this is the way Boomers will choose to age in place.

After a 31 year career in the U.S. Navy followed by 17 years government contracting leadership experience, Bill Axelrod retired in January 2009.  He and his wife, Brenda Wilner, chose the Peoria area for their retirement home and are now in a position to give back to the community that so recently warmly welcomed them. 

EXPERIENCE:

Bill Axelrod was the Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer for Wave Technologies, Inc. (WTI) from 2002 to 2009.  WTI is a small company that specializes in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance systems engineering and integration, research and development, and intelligence analysis for the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community clients. 

Prior to joining WTI, Bill served in a number of executive positions with profit and loss responsibilities during his 10 ½ year tenure at Science Applications International Corporation, a large defense contracting company.

Bill Axelrod entered the Navy as a Seaman Recruit in 1961.  He advanced through the enlisted, Chief Warrant Officer, and Surface Warfare Officer ranks retiring as a Commander in 1992. His final position was Director of Command and Control for the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet.
