First Job out of college 1968,  Economist and Market Researcher for Allis - Chalmers, Milwaukee, built econometric models to predict demand for farm equipment, spent 11 years with AC and grew to manager of all marketing functions, two years sales manager,  recruited by competitor White Motor Corporation as Marketing Director, recruited by competitor Claas OHG, a German firm as VP to build organization and plant in US., and take product line away from Ford Tractor,  Completed 4 year contract, recruited by  Lilliston  Harvesting Corp as VP. as turn around manager.  Sold company to White Motor during the AG Equipment depression.  Decided to leave AG industry  during the depression of the 1980"s to invest in American Health Monitoring, a startup company in Atlanta.  Received the first Medicaid contract in Georgia for Medical Monitoring in 1987, grew the business and merged with Pioneer Medical to gain venture capital funding.  Grew business to 35 states setting up distribution to provide medical monitoring through hospitals and state Medicaid programs over a 18 year period.  We sold company to market leader in 2006. Continued on contract for 3 years, but left in 2007 with continued income.  Began consulting practice in the medical related field.  Began consulting in local Atlanta market in 2007  Ran for Mayor of Duluth in 2007.  Became President of Duluth Business Association for 2012.  Still active in local business and volunteering with Kiwanis.

Helen utilized SCORE when she initially started her business, Mason-Hanley & Associates in Nashville, TN in 1985, and feels it is now time to pay it forward to others who need business advice.

Helen is currently co-owner of Hanley Consulting (HC) and has been a Value Added Associate and Distributor affiliated with Target Training International, Ltd. (TTI) since 1995.  Her son, Craig, will be taking over the family business in a few years.  HC utilizes the TTI Success Insights® Behaviors and Motivators and TTI Insights™ Job assessment tools in their consulting business and customizes solutions to everyday business problems utilizing these tools. I was an accountant for fifteen years. Most of that time was in public accounting where I saw the inner workings of a great many businesses, large and small. This gave me a broad understanding of business practices and the financial decisions people make, both good and disastrous. All the while I was an accountant, I knew I wanted to have my own business and I gathered information that was useful to me. When I had the chance, I started my own business. First I had a book selling business and then a publishing business. What worked for me was becoming an antique map dealer. The first five years I worked out of my home and invested in maps. Then I opened a shop, I offered framing services and I produced reproductions which I sold in my shop at retail and I also wholesaled them. So I have experience with starting a company, publicity, retail buying and selling. I also self-published a book of reference for dealers in antique paper and maps. After eighteen profitable years I sold my antique map business and retired.
