Joined a small group of apparel specialty stores called Country Casuals. We had 12 stores and were purchased by the Melville Corporation. Melville was a shoe company that along with other shoe companies were starting or buying up apparel stores both for young men and women. Melville had started a company called Foxmoor out of Pittsburg and it needed help. After the purchase I was sent to be Merchandise Manager for the combined stores.After a year the company was moved to Mass. and its growth began. I was named President in 1972 and named President of Melvilles mens division in 1979. Combined there were several  hundred stores. We also had two startups that proved that it just isn't easy even with funding available..In 1982 I was recruited to come back to California to be President of MIllers Oupost A mens and womens apparel store, Again a growth company. I retired in 1994.

Retired, after 17 years of service,  from FedEx Freight, Inc. as Vice President, Sales with direct responsibility for all field and Inside Sales function. Worked in conjunction with the VP of Marketing to develop, price and market our products. Graduated the NJ State University, Rutgers University New Brunswick, NJ, in 1970.

My successful trucking/transportation career started in a sales territory in both Hudson and Essex Counties. I was then promoted to Sales Manager and then promoted to 'off line' National Accounts in Southern California.  Eventually, I was hired in June, 1985 as Director of Sales for Viking Freight System and a year later promoted to Vice President, Sales.  Viking needed to grow their revenue and grow it we did ultimately to the level of $500 million annually.  Through a previous sale, Viking became part of Caliber Systems which was eventually purchased by FedEx, Inc. along with RPS (Roadway Package System) in 1996.  We were eventually renamed FedEx Freight, Inc. and I remained in my position with the company until I retired in June, 2002.  I have also held a California Real Estate license and did sell real estate for a number of years.

I currently teach the SCORE Orange County Ca Sales Techniques workshop and perform face to face counseling for the Orange County Chapter.
