Selected Accomplishments

  • Co-founded and led ConGlobal Industries Holding, Inc., an MBO of a repair and maintenance division of Itel Containers International, Inc.  CGI was a single product company, generating revenues of $12 million and comprised of six domestic facilities with 135 employees.  Upon sale, CGI was an international, diversified service company, generating $150 million in revenue with 31 facilities
  • Successfully designed, built, and led accounting, finance, tax, legal, human resources and labor relations, risk and safety, and regulatory compliance (DOT, OSHA, and EPA).
  • Originated and completed multiple acquisitions, divestitures, and financings.  Negotiated an early retirement of debt that resulted in a $2.5 million (33%) gain and included the retirement of 33% of the company at no incremental cost.
  • Concurrent with CFO responsibilities, promoted to Group Executive of a $5 million transportation business.  Redirected business to an asset light environment and grew the business fivefold in three years.
  • Established and assembled a centralized purchasing function and parts distribution business.  Divested this division to its largest competitor for a profit, while simultaneously negotiating a long-term discounted purchasing arrangement which resulted in improved parts margins.
  • Led cost containment efforts and maintained banking relationship during a 50% downturn in customer stored equipment, the company’s most profitable product.
  • Established and managed the creation of a safety and compliance group which enabled the company to earn a satisfactory DOT rating, achieve successive years of declining insurance claims, sequentially reduced ex-mod score and insurance premiums.  Initiated the use of high deductible policies and highly profitable self-insurance programs.
  • Managed and directed human resources and payroll, purchased and delivered employee benefit programs, while becoming the lead negotiator for all collective bargaining agreements. Successful management of these services is measured by employee longevity, lack of union grievances, and low employee turnover.
  • During times of prosperity, developed metrics, led work groups, and held personal conversations with individuals responsible for collections and inventory purchasing.  New cash flow initiatives and follow-up led to a five-day decline in DSO and the lowest historical inventory levels.  Cash flow importance has remained intact and is now an embedded daily operating focus.
  • Created a Joint Venture with a Native American tribe.  Key components of this transaction included leasing land at substantially below market rates, profit sharing, and offering job opportunities to unemployed tribal members.
