SCORE Austin helped Blue Paw grow and win

AUSTIN, Texas {October 12, 2016} – Blue Paw Energy Service, LLC is just the latest Austin small business to benefit from the business counseling and mentorship of SCORE Austin, a non-profit resource partner of the Small Business Administration.

Blue Paw Energy Service has been awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by two government groups: the Austin Mayor’s Committee on People with Disability Employment and the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities.

Blue Paw Energy Service is a deaf-owned and operated company that offers a variety of energy-saving services that help build efficiency and reduce energy costs.

Owner Jason Shaw, a licensed master electrician and long-time SCORE Austin client, says “The recognition I received in the form of these two awards has been invaluable, as I use my knowledge and skills to help customers with their energy efficiency and electrical needs. My motto is ‘Power of Choice through Innovative Energy Solutions!’ I provide jobs to the disabled community, while helping to inspire not only the deaf community, but also all disabled Texans who want to start their own businesses. Starting and running a successful business is challenging and requires the help of so many people. My partnership with SCORE Austin was key to getting Blue Paw Energy Service where we are today.”

Two Entrepreneur of the Year Awards

The Austin Mayor’s Committee on People with Disabilities Entrepreneur Award is granted to a business owner with the skills, leadership, and initiative necessary to successfully own and operate a for-profit business in the private sector. The Texas Governor’s Committee bestows the Lex Frieden Employment Award on Texans who have displayed a commitment to empowering employees, co-workers and fellow Texans with disabilities.

Said Texas Gov. Abbott: “This year’s award recipients have been inspirational in providing opportunity for all Texans to thrive in the workplace.”

“SCORE Austin works hard to support and improve local small businesses in Austin because we know they are the backbone of our local community – and the American economy,” says Bob Paino, President of SCORE Austin. “Blue Paw Energy Service is the perfect example of how we can help a business grow and win through education and mentoring.”
