Are there any agencies in New Jersey that are designed specifically to help small businesses get the funding they need?

Yes, New Jersey has several agencies with programs that are designed specifically to help small businesses get started and develop.  These agencies provide many different kinds of services, from financing and training to counseling and mentoring services.

 

The NJ Economic Development Authority (EDA) is an independent state agency that puts special emphasis on financing small and mid-sized businesses. Additionally, the EDA administers tax incentives to retain and grow jobs and revitalize communities. Visit www.njeda.com.

 

The US Small Business Administration (SBA) is an independent federal agency committed to counseling, assisting and protecting the interests of the small business community. The NJ Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provide educational resources to help business owners finance, market and manage their businesses. The UCEDC is a private, nonprofit economic development corporation that makes loans to high-risk borrowers, and women and minority entrepreneurs. It also provides training and mentorship services.
