I've been a SCORE counselor for little over a year and have cultivated a routine when counseling new and existing clients.
1. Listen to what clients don't say. 2. Encourage entrepreneurship and small business endeavors. 3. Provide ongoing guidance using all available resources. 4. Follow up.
I've been told by many of my clients that SCORE was their last hope and that after meeting with me they felt encouraged and motivated to continue starting or growing their business. The definition of success differs from person to person, and I guess in many ways I've contributed to my clients' success through words of encouragement, a listening ear and my availability to share my knowledge and expertise. |
