Retailer Fills Niche to Earn over $1 Million in Annual Sales |
|
“The SCORE Reading chapter was approached by a husband-and-wife team selling hospital scrubs to the retail public. Both were nurses and disliked the colors and choices of the scrubs they could purchase in the stores, so they started up a company of their own, found a Chinese manufacturer that made the products they were looking for, and launched their U.S. retail operation with help of SCORE mentoring and business planning. After two years in business, they were they were doing OK but but still longed for the "big win". We suggested that they sell their products via the internet, a move which doubled their sales numbers. They went on to generate over $1 million in annual sales and their distributor in China suggested expanding to a second location in Lancaster, PA. Their SCORE mentor suggested that they not jump immediately to a second location, instead perfecting their current pace for one more year and not “losing control” of their success - advice they took to heart. Steady wins the race in this economy.” Larry Rush |
