Niche e-Retailer Created from a Hobby

“I met with a client that had a passion for sewing. She frequently came across patterns that she loved but did not know the amount needed for basic items. She developed a card that had the basic yardage required and that could easily be carried in a handbag. This client now has 5 card sets in production. Her sales just hit 812 sets.

She began two years ago by establishing a blog. She is becoming more professional by using an email service to schedule "check back" emails a week after each sale - to make sure the cards arrive promptly and improve her customer service. She created a Facebook page and is periodically adding interesting content to that. She just started using MailChimp to organize her customer email list and send out attractive newsletters. She plans to produce a simple video showing how to use the cards, to post on the Facebook page and website. Based on feedback from customers, she plans to have an app developed and also has a trademark pending for her company.”
