Fred Schmiedeler, (a 16+ year SCORE counselor) was assigned to Kim & Michael Becker in 1995 to form a non-profit  corporation to pursue their mission of providing cosmetic aid and education free to women who are battling cancer.  Their desire to do this came from losing several people to cancer including Mike's mother in 1997.  They saw a need to provide cancer patients & survivors information on how to use hair pieces, wiglets, turbans, and milder lines of cosmetics to hide the damage done to patients due to cancer treatments.  Since Kim & Michael's background is the owning and operating of a successful beauty salon; moving to a non-profit was a natural fit, but one they were not familiar with.

Fred provided the link to move the Becker's from their dream to a reality.  His knowledge and step-by-step procedure on "How to Establish and Operate a Nonprofit Organization in the State of Indiana" allowed them to pursue their mission.  During 2006, Fred met with the Becker's six times and with the assistance of George Stump, (Retired CPA and fellow SCORE counselor) applied for their 501 (C)(3) in February. They were approved in 6 months and agree that Fred's "positive influence on their thinking" helped them then, and on down through the years.

They now have a, specially equipped recreational vehicle, the Hello Gorgeous mobile spa (acquired in late 2009) that travels to the homes of cancer patients in Indiana to render cosmetic services to nominated and approved patients.  These patients are nominated by friends or family and are voted on by an elective panel based on merit, need and availability.

Partnering with SCORE helped the Becker's realize their dream. We are ready to apply our experience and resources to your particular interest. Call 574-282-4350 today and schedule your next counseling or seminar appointment.
