Washington, D.C.— The SCORE Association and The Company Corporation have formed a national alliance to provide educational materials on business structures and to demystify the incorporation process. This month, SCORE releases a free workbook on How to Really Incorporate Your Business.
With recent layoffs nationwide, starting a new business and choosing the appropriate business structure is of vital importance. Business structure impacts operating efficiency and tax advantages. Often during layoffs, professional and managerial staff start consulting practices of their own. The type of consultancy and the financial situation of the new entrepreneur determine which business structure is the most appropriate.
Choosing a business structure is a key decision in building the foundation of a business. "Through the workbook How to Really Incorporate Your Business, entrepreneurs who want to learn about incorporation and LLC formation can get a full picture of the corporation or LLC as a business structure, tax advantages and compliance requirements," says SCORE CEO Ken Yancey.
"SCORE appreciates the generosity of The Company Corporation in sponsoring the How to Really Incorporate Your Business workbook. This workbook-free to entrepreneurs-answers key questions about business structure and incorporating." Yancey adds, "The support of The Company Corporation is helping SCORE offer quality educational workbooks to entrepreneurs, so we can offer more in-depth business counseling to entrepreneurs."
"By helping SCORE expand its selection of educational workbooks, we are helping America's small business counselors keep entrepreneurs up-to-date on business practices. This information that can help entrepreneurs make sound business decisions vital to their success," says The Company Corporation Vice President and General Manager Brett Davis.
The new guide includes a chart explaining the characteristics of various business structures, a section on choosing a business name and domain name, information about incorporation and LLC formation and resources about the incorporation and LLC formation process. Finally, the workbook boasts a resource relevant to small business needs.
Free copies of the small business guides are available at any of the 389 SCORE chapters nationwide, or by calling 1-800/634-0245. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to use the workbooks during SCORE business counseling to help them plan for business success with the added value of real-world business advice from SCORE counselors.
