SCORE works with Yahoo! News to Remake America’s Small Businesses
Washington, D.C. - SCORE, – www.score.org –a non-profit association and the premier resource for free and confidential small business advice, has partnered with Yahoo! News, the #1 online news destination, to highlight critical concerns facing Americans today and attempt to offer relief to those families struggling to achieve the American dream. “Remake America” is a weekly docu-series that follows the lives of six families facing the same issues and challenges affecting millions of Americans including joblessness, foreclosure and lack of health insurance. SCORE has joined in this effort by offering free small business guidance and resources to help one of the featured struggling entrepreneurs — and America — find solutions to issues facing small business owners across the country. The series debuted on Thursday March 8th on ABC’s Good Morning America and Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com).
Each year, SCORE, with its network of 13,000+ volunteer mentors with expertise in a variety of industries, helps over 350,000 clients along the journey of small business ownership. Free one-on-one mentoring is only one tool offered by the organization. Information about the numerous, free and low cost small business resources offered by SCORE, including templates, webinars and more, can be found at www.SCORE.org. In 2010 alone, SCORE clients started 58,637 new businesses and at least 91% of those were still in business in 2011.
“The opportunity for SCORE to work with Yahoo! News and the “Remake America” campaign is exciting because it will showcase the work SCORE mentors do every day to help entrepreneurs and small business owners.” says SCORE CEO Ken Yancey. “Obviously, it’s difficult to watch a family struggle in small business ownership, but with the proper expert advice and appropriate planning that SCORE offers free of charge, success is attainable.”
