SCORE Recognizes Really Raw Honey of Baltimore as a Rising Star Small Business

Washington, D.C.—The SCORE Association “Counselors to America’s Small Business”, in conjunction with the Small Business Administration (SBA), honors Really Raw Honey as an SBA Rising Star. Mimi Bennett, owner of Really Raw Honey, received this honor at the SBA offices in Washington, D.C. The SBA Rising Star program highlights entrepreneurs for successfully growing their business and realizing their small business dreams.

Bennett founded Really Raw Honey nearly 15 years ago. She has grown the business from her basement at home to The Broom Factory Building in Canton on the waterfront in Baltimore. Bennett got the idea for packaging and selling totally unprocessed honey from a beekeeper in upstate New York. Her business caters to the consumer interest in all-natural products.

SCORE CEO Ken Yancey says, “Mimi Bennett’s experience with SCORE really exemplifies the kind of entrepreneurial success that SCORE counselors facilitate each and every day.” Yancey adds, “Baltimore SCORE will continue to provide high-quality counseling and services under the leadership of SCORE Chapter Chair Barbara Harrington.”

SCORE provides free and confidential small business counseling, as well as low-cost training workshops in the Baltimore area. Bennett credits the Baltimore SCORE office and her business counselor Dave Fulton with aiding her success.

Fulton has extensive experience owning and operating his own small business selling natural plant fertilizers and pest controls for gardens and ponds. He has been volunteering his time and expertise to coach entrepreneurs since 1989.

Since 1964, the SCORE Association has assisted more than 6.7 million aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners through counseling and business workshops. More than 10,500 volunteer business counselors serve their communities through entrepreneur education dedicated to the formation, growth and success of small businesses.
