SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” Honored with National Summit Award from American Society of Association Executives
Washington, D.C.—The SCORE Association will receive the prestigious Summit Award, which recognizes new and innovative community-based programs, from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). SCORE will be presented with the award for its small business counseling. The ASAE fifth annual Summit Awards Dinner will take place on October 5, 2004 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
The Summit Award is the highest award presented by ASAE as part of its Associations Advance America Campaign. SCORE, one of only six national winners of this award, was chosen as an honoree for its outstanding small business counseling program.
This year, SCORE expects to provide more than half a million services through its face-to-face, phone and online counseling sessions and low-cost business workshops and seminars. More than 350,000 small business owners and entrepreneurs benefit from the more than 10,500 SCORE volunteer counselors in 389 chapters nationwide and online.
According to ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, “It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase your activities and those of five other top award winners as examples of the many meaningful contributions associations are making to advance American society.”
SCORE CEO Ken Yancey says, “SCORE is pleased to be honored for the impact that small business counseling has on the lives of entrepreneurs throughout America.” Yancey adds, “SCORE is dedicated to providing confidential business counseling, mentoring and business planning assistance to help America’s entrepreneurs achieve success as small business owners.”
Since 1964, the SCORE Association has assisted more than 6.5 million aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners through counseling and business workshops. More than 10,500 volunteer business counselors serve their communities through entrepreneur education dedicated to the formation, growth and success of small businesses.
