MAXIMIZE NONPROFIT EFFECTIVENESS” SEMINAR OCTOBER 13TH
Kalamazoo, Mich. — Board issues, marketing and the rules changes coming from Washington plus other topics will be covered at the “Maximize Nonprofit Effectiveness” seminar presented by SCORE Kalamazoo and OnePlace@kpl. Seminar will be held at the SCORE offices at the Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce, 346 West Michigan Avenue, Kalamazoo on Saturday, October 13 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Nonprofit managers/staff looking for better ways to assemble a board, improve marketing and be prepared for current changes coming out of Washington may register at www.kalamazoo.score.org (local workshops). Fee for the four-hour workshop is $40 (second person from the same company $30) including materials.
The seminar opens with Dr. Marc Hardy covering board issues: who to ask, how to find and how to manage them. Marc is Director of Nonprofit Executive Education at the University of Notre Dame. He holds a PhD from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and has taught nonprofit leadership and management at IU and Butler University as well as led or served on the board of several nonprofit organizations.
Next Thom Andrews will discuss marketing your nonprofit within a typical nonprofit budget. Thom is Director of ONEplace@kpl, a management support center for nonprofit organization leaders, managers, fundraisers, and communicators. A former Marketing Director of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Thom served as adjunct faculty at Western Michigan University and has conducted benefits and management classes.
And finely, David Ray Kiely will present new thinking coming from Washington D.C. that may cause major changes in ways you operate to maintain nonprofit status. David is CEO and Managing Partner at Silver Fox Advising with more than 35 years of working with nonprofit organizations in New York, South Carolina, Minnesota and Indiana. He served on the executive board of the American Network of Community Options and Resources and has spoken at state and national conferences.
