Marilyn Tam Elected to The SCORE Foundation Board of DirectorsTam’s Leadership and Strategic Planning Skills Add Strength to Foundation Board
Washington, D.C.—Marilyn Tam of Santa Barbara, Calif., joins the board of The SCORE Foundation, a nonprofit organization that serves as the charitable benefactor to the SCORE Association. Tam’s term begins on October 1, 2004.
The SCORE Foundation’s mission is to support and leverage the work of the SCORE Association, “Counselors to America’s Small Business.” The SCORE Association provides free and confidential business advice and training to more than 350,000 entrepreneurs each year. The SCORE Foundation raises funds to help the SCORE Association fulfill its mission of service to the small business community through entrepreneur mentoring and training.
Tam rose through the ranks of the international business world to become an influential corporate leader, speaker, corporate consultant, author and humanitarian. Her extensive business career includes prominent executive roles at several world-renowned corporations, such as CEO of Aveda, president of Reebok Apparel and Retail Group, and vice president of Nike.
In 1994, Tam was awarded The Reebok Human Rights Award for her humanitarian work. She is the founder and executive director of the Us Foundation, whose mission is to support global action plans and dialogue to address social, economic and environmental issues.

Tam’s work also has included appearances on television and radio programs, as well as international conferences. Some of the keynote addresses she has given include “The Role of Business in the 21st Century” at the Universal Forum of Cultures in Barcelona, Spain, and “Diversity, How to Use it to Everybody’s Benefit” at the Walt Disney World and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts HR Executives Seminar.
