Graduation for Latino Entrepreneurs To Be Held November 20, 2013 at the Taste of Puebla Restaurant in Kennett Square. Sponsors of the Eight Week Program (Held in Spanish) Will Be On Hand to Honor Graduates.

WEST CHESTER, Pa., November 12, 2013 - On Wednesday evening,November 20, 2013, beginning at 6:00 p.m., graduates of an eight week program offered in Spanish entitled, "Business Skills for Latino Entrepreneurs" or"Como ser Exitoso como Empresario Latino" will be honored with a buffet dinner and graduation ceremony at the Taste of Puebla Restaurant, 201 Birch Street, Kennettt Square, PA 19348. The event's sponsors include Chester County SCORE, La Comunidad Hispana, National Penn Bank, and Kutztown University's Latino Business Resource Center.

Twelve graduates, and their families, will be on hand to receive diplomas and celebrate the completion of an intensive eight week program (comparable to an introductory college level business course) tailored specifically for Latino entrepreneurs interested in starting businesses in Kennett Square and the surrounding community. The seminar series will culminate tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13, 2013, with the participants' presentation of business plans aligned with their business concept, and incorporating the knowledge and skills that were presented during the seminar. Some of the business concepts developed during the eight week program include a plan to start a Puerto Rican style restaurant, plans to establish a women owned grocery store catering to the Latino community, a career development business geared towards the Hispanic community, an event and wedding planning business, a car detailing and repair operation, and establishing an architectural design business in downtown West Chester.

Horace Scherer, an event coordinator and volunteer with Chester County SCORE, is extremely pleased with the success of the program and is optimistic about re-offering the eight week seminar series in the near future. "The participants of the program were highly motivated and had some very practical and realistic ideas for starting their businesses." says Scherer. "Perhaps the most beneficial lessons learned during the eight week series pertained to identifying and targeting viable market segments for each business, understanding basic financial information necessary for evaluating business success and securing loans, and legal issues regarding zoning, permits, and business licensing, which are not commonly used in Latin America as they are in this country."

The event at the Taste of Puebla Restaurant promises to be the first among many future celebrations signaling the success of the newly established"Business Skills for Latino Entrepreneurs" seminar series. Local county and municipal officials from Kennett Square have been invited and are expected to attend Wednesday evening's celebration.
