Joseph Wollenberger Elected to National Post as Board Director for SCORE Association “Counselors to America’s Small Business”
Washington, D.C.─Joseph Wollenberger, of Charleston, West Virginia, has been elected to serve as a member of the board of directors for the SCORE Association “Counselors to America’s Small Business.” In this role, Wollenberger will be responsible for guiding the national, nonprofit’s strategic direction that supports America’s small businesses through free business counseling and seminars. He begins his term on October 1, 2002.
Wollenberger owns a marketing company that specializes in radio and television advertising. Previously, he served as assistant general counsel for labor and equal employment for the Monsanto Company, was the head of the labor law group for the firm of Kirkland and Ellis, and was the vice-president of industrial relations at Alberto-Culver. He began his career as an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, DC.
SCORE CEO Ken Yancey says, “SCORE is very pleased to have Joe Wollenberger serve this nonprofit association’s Board of Directors. His broad knowledge of business, the law and marketing will serve the board well as it focuses on governance, fundraising and long-term strategic planning for SCORE.”
Wollenberger joined SCORE in 1992 and is a veteran to SCORE leadership, most recently serving on the District Director Advisory Council. Wollenberger also served as a district director, district manager and as chapter chair for the Charleston, West Virginia Chapter. As a board member, he hopes to use his experience and focus the board on governance, business strategy and fundraising. In addition to SCORE, he serves on the boards of many organizations and has done extensive corporate fundraising for the St. Louis Symphony
. He is the president of the Charleston Community Music Association.
