Jim Frommel Begins Three-Year Term on SCORE Board of Directors

Frommel to Focus on Chapter Technology Solutions & Volunteer Education Opportunities

Washington, D.C.—Jim Frommel of Memphis, Tenn., joins the SCORE Board of Directors. SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" provides small business mentoring, as well as workshops and seminars, to more than 350,000 aspiring and existing small business owners each year. Frommel’s term began on October 1.

Frommel joined SCORE as a volunteer in 1997 and has provided leadership at both the state and local levels. During his tenure with SCORE, Frommel served as chapter chair, then assistant district director, at the SCORE offices in Memphis. Frommel has organized and planned workshops and seminars, as well as negotiated sponsorships with local businesses.

Under Frommel’s leadership, Memphis SCORE converted its financial records and reporting to a computerized system, and he worked with the executive committee to set chapter goals. In the past two years, he has served on the chapter’s speakers bureau, appearing before many civic clubs and professional associations in the local area.

According to SCORE CEO Ken Yancey, “Jim Frommel’s service with SCORE demonstrates his commitment to supporting the success of America’s entrepreneurs. His experience as a SCORE counselor and leader will support SCORE’s focus on strategic planning and counseling excellence.”

Frommel is a financial management professional. His career in the broadcasting industry spanned more than 30 years at WMC TV, AM & FM in Memphis, where he served as controller and business manager for the station and its 250 member staff.

In 1990, Frommel received his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. In 1996, he joined the financial planning firm of William Howard & Co., where he advised individuals and small business owners on retirement, education, estate and investment planning. He also has served on the boards of a number of broadcast and financial industry organizations.
