Digital Cut Productions Gets a Makeover with Help from Broward SCORE

Published February 02, 2013

Broward SCORE counselors recently completed a Business Makeover of Digital Cut Productions of Fort Lauderdale in conjunction with the Miami Herald.  Digital Cut Productions contacted The Herald “Business Monday” editors and requested assistance with revamping their business strategy.  Herald editors reached out to Broward SCORE for counseling assistance on the project, and our Turnaround Team was assigned to the client.

Lauri and John Oliva, owners of Digital Cut Productions were seeking guidance to grow their video production business and expand into new categories such as automotive, legal, and non-profit clients.

A team of SCORE counselors comprised of David Harris, Leon Schor and Michael Paim met with the Digital Cut management team in a series of three sessions in January and February.

During the first meeting, SCORE counselors assessed the needs of the business which included a more aggressive marketing and sales strategy, a customer relationship management system, and a unique branding strategy to differentiate the company from other video production firms.  By the second meeting, Lauri and John Oliva were well on their way to creating a written strategic business plan that included the hiring of a new Executive Producer, Bruce Purcell, who has extensive experience in the marketing of video production services to automotive clients and other desired categories of business.

Social media expert, Michael Paim, provided the client with a comprehensive review of their Internet and social media strategy with recommendations for improvement. Leon Schor provided relevant suggestions for the development of an effective customer-focused sales and marketing plan.

During the second and third counseling sessions, the updated business plan of Digital Cut Productions was completed, resulting in a clear and specific guidebook for the company’s ongoing success.  A feature article about the Business Makeover of Digital Cut Productions will appear in the Miami Herald “Business Monday” section in February, written by Jenny Hiaasen.
