Published September 22, 2011

The 101 Surefire Ideas To Help Grow Your Business symposium held at Nova Southeastern University on Saturday April 30. 2011 was well received by the many participants. The free event was organized and run by the Broward Chapter of Score and sponsored by the Davie CostcoOffice Edge and Radio 880 AM.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz was the keynote speaker. She addressed actions being taken by the Federal Government to aid small businesses. She pointed out that the plans for continued economic recovery expected significant hiring by existing and new small business owners.

Workshops were led by business, academic, and media professionals and focused on some of the latest opportunities for small businesses in Selling (Dr. Charles Pettijohn), Advertising (Tasha Cunningham), Low/No Cost Marketing and E-Mail Marketing (Neil Tortorella), Social Media Marketing (Mike Paim), Finance (Paul Bosley), QR Codes (Steve Fleisch), Import/Export (Joe Braun), Home Business (Eric Thompson), and Cloud Computing (Stonly Baptiste.)

Additionally, SCORE Counselors were on hand for “Speed Counseling” sessions. They provided on the spot advice and, as a result, are following up with traditional longer term counseling sessions with a number of the attendees.

Participants’ reviews were very enthusiastic. ‘This was very educational. I am so excited and grateful to SCORE…” “These were very good seminars. I am very impressed with the backgrounds of the speakers…” “…Absolutely excellent, I will be back!”

Broward SCORE is planning another is a series of similar events on Saturday June 25, 2011 at Nova Southeastern University. That event is Money, Money, Money. It will present ways to raise money, use it, grow it, and protect it.
