In the transportation industry for 41 years; 40 years in trucking and 1 year in Air Freight. Retired, after 17 years of service, from FedEx Freight, Inc. as Vice President, Sales with direct responsibility for all field and Inside Sales function. Worked in conjunction with the VP of Marketing to develop, price and market our products. Graduated the NJ State University, Rutgers University New Brunswick, NJ, in 1970.
My successful trucking/transportation career started in a sales territory in both Hudson and Essex Counties. I was then promoted to Sales Manager and then promoted to 'off line' National Accounts in Southern California. Eventually, I was hired in June, 1985 as Director of Sales for Viking Freight System and a year later promoted to Vice President, Sales. Viking needed to grow their revenue and grow it we did ultimately to the level of $500 million annually. Through a previous sale, Viking became part of Caliber Systems which was eventually purchased by FedEx, Inc. along with RPS (Roadway Package System) in 1996. We were eventually renamed FedEx Freight, Inc. and I remained in my position with the company until I retired in June, 2002. I have also held a California Real Estate license and did sell real estate for a number of years.
I currently teach the SCORE Orange County Ca Sales Techniques workshop and perform face to face counseling for the Orange County Chapter.
