Norman Paige, SCORE District Director for South Carolina, honored Grand Strand SCORE Chapter 381 by naming them South Carolina Chapter of the Year for 2008. Mr. Paige said that while 2007 was a banner year for the chapter, 2008 was still better. He noted a continued increase of services provided to the community as well as, increased online counseling for clients nationwide.

Women entrepreneurs shaking things up in Cincinnati- hi Velocity

“Over the past few years, about 40 to 50 percent of our clients and workshop participants have been women,” explains Rick Johnston, chairman of SCORE-Greater Cincinnati. “We’re definitely seeing a trend of more local women becoming entrepreneurs and also SCORE clients, which we think is great.”

SBA Financing Jumps 46 Percent-

SCORE, a national nonprofit that counsels small businesses, recently announced that SBA small business financing in Riverside County increased 46 percent in loan amounts during fiscal year 2011 to $279.9 million.

That was up from $191.8 million the previous fiscal year.
